The Pakistan Navy’s second Tughril-class guided missile frigate, PNS Taimur (F-262) was commissioned into the Pakistan Navy in Shanghai today.

The over 4,000 ton, 440 feet long PNS TAIMUR (F-262) is, like her three sister ships PNS Tughril (F-261), PNS Tipu Sultan (F-263) and PNS Shahjahan (F-264), capable of long-range defensive and offensive operations against warplanes, anti-ship missiles, surface ships, submarines, and shore targets. In addition to her two 2-cell CM-302 supersonic anti-surface cruise missile launchers and 32-cell vertical launcher for HHQ-16B anti-air missiles, she carries a 76 mm PJ26 naval gun for action against surface ships and for shore bombardment. She also carries anti-submarine torpedoes, decoy rocket launchers, anti-submarine rockets and depth charges, and two Type 1130 Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) anti-missile guns. The ship has an advanced, state-of-the-art combat management system capable of integrated naval battlegroup formation operations with the rest of the Pakistani naval fleet as well as a large amount of ECM, EW and ELINT/SIGINT sensors, and large naval surface search and air surveillance radars.

She also has a flight deck for Z-9D helicopters and can refuel and re-arming these helicopters, as well as a hangar for storing and maintaining helicopters.
