Mi-24/Mi-35 “Export Variants: Hind D & Hind E”, NATO Reporting Name “Hind”. Mi-35 is Russian Large Attack Helicopter. It is commonly known as “Crocodile” or “Flying Tank”. MI-35 is produced by “Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant” & has been operated since 1972 by the “Soviet Air Force” “Lately: Russian Air Force” & its successors, along with 48 other nations. The main operates of Mi-24/35 are Russia, India, Syria, Indonesia, Iraq & Pakistan.

Mi-35 has capacity of carrying maximum of eight troops. It uses “2xIsotov TV3-117 turboshaft engines” which produce “1,600 kW (2,200 HP)” each. Its maximum range is 450 Km with a top speed of 335 Km/h. The maximum altitude it can attain is 16,000 ft.

Mi-35 has fixed twin-barrel GSh-30K or flexible twin-barrel GSh-23L autocannon. It has six external pylons which can carry up to 2400 Kg. Mi-35 can carry multiple range of bombs, rockets & missiles (S-24 240 mm Rockets, 9M17 Fleyta & 9K114 Shturm Missiles).

Pakistan Army ordered 4xMi-35 M(s) in 2015 from Russia in $153 Million US deal which includes spare parts, ground support equipment & ammunition. Pakistan started taking delivers in April 2018. All 4 Mi-35 M(s) were delivered in 2018. It is speculated that Pakistan will acquire 16 more units, but no further update was provided on it as of now.
