Reports are emerging that Armenia bought Indian four Swathi Weapon Locating Radars (WLR) worth $40M USD in early 2020 and used them in the Azerbaijan-Armenia war of 2020. Each unit incurred critical system failures during actual combat. Apparently, the entire system had to be reset after every 5 hours due to technical failures. Armenia then requested an engineering team to be sent from India to fix the issues, but the Indian team itself could not solve the problems due to majority of components being various different off-the-shelf foreign systems incorporated into the radars, after which the Armenian MOD decided to pull the units into storage.

Furthermore, Armenian defense officials and diplomats are reportedly consistently approaching India on the failed systems and asking compensation.

These reports will further erode the already damaged reputation of Indian-manufactured defense equipment.
