Sidhu Moose Wala was an Indian (Pro-Khalistani singer), rapper and a Punjabi cinema and music actor. He was born on 11 June 1993. His real name was Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu. His career as a songwriter started from the song “License” by Ninja. He was a key figure for Punjabi music artists.
Early life
Sidhu belonged to the village of Moosa in Mansa district of Punjab, India. He was born in a (Jat) Sikh family. He studied electrical engineering at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana in 2016. In sixth grade, he started listening to hip-hop music as a student, later trained in music from Harvinder Bittu in Ludhiana. He chooses “Moose Wala” for his stage because of his home village of Moosa.
He studied at Sheridan College and Humber College. Later, after graduation, as an international student Moose Wala moved to Brampton, Ontario, Canada.
Music Career
Sidhu was first associated with HUMBLE RECORDS. He released many albums which included many Super-Hit songs. He also collaborated with many famous singers including Prem Dhillon, Maninder Buttar, Karan Aujla etc. His first album was released in 2019, later in 2020 he released his 2nd album and 3rd album in 2021. Moose Wala was the first Indian singer to perform at Wireless Festival in London with British Rapper Mist.
Due to the various successful songs with Humble Music, in 2018 Moose Wala independently started releasing songs. He released the first song “Warning Shots”, which was a diss-track on Karan Aujla’s track “Lafaafe”. On August 2020, Moose Wala officially launched his record label, 5911 Records.
Politics
In December 2018 Moose Wala actively campaigned for his mother, Charan Kaur, who won the election from Moosa village. Later, Moose Wala joined Congress for contesting the 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly election on 3 December 2021. Nazar Singh Manshahia, the Congress MLA from Mansa, revolted and opposed Moosewala’s candidacy.
Obtaining only 20.52% votes from the Mansa constituency, Moose Wala lost to Aam Aadmi Party’s Vijay Singla by a margin of 63,323 votes.
Moose Wala released a song on 11 April 2022, titled “Scapegoat”, in which he expressed sorrow on his failure in the 2022 Punjab state assembly elections. The Aam Aadmi Party claimed that Moose Wala in his song narrated that the voters of Punjab were “gaddar” for electing AAP.
Rivalries
Moose Wala had a rivalry with Karan Aujla. Both replied to each other through songs, social media handles and live performances. Also, both the singers have been criticized for singing songs which promote violence. Elly Mangat (colleague of both Sidhu and Aujla’s) in an interview told that the dispute between the two singers began when Sidhu’s video targeting Aujla in his song was leaked to Aujla’s management, and they threatened to attack Sidhu. Following the incident, both started targeting each other on social media. The rivalry was resolved temporarily till Aujla released a diss-track “Lafaafe”, followed by Moose Wala’s “Warning Shot”. Later Aujla in an interview stated that he did not write the track “Lafaafe”, and did not reveal anything about their rivalry, but praised Sidhu’s work.
Death
On 29 May 2022, Moose Wala was shot dead by unidentified people in his car in Jawaharke village of Mansa district.
Moose Wala was driving his private car (black Mahindra Thar SUV). He was going to his aunt’s house in Barnala. When the SUV reached the village Jawaharke, two other cars intercepted and blocked it. 30 rounds were fired during the incident, which also injured two other men. Moose Wala also fired back at the attackers using his pistol. After the shootout, the attackers left the scene. His father took Moose Wala to the civil hospital in Mansa, where he was declared dead.
The incident took place a day after his security was withdrawn by the Punjab police as per orders of the Government.
A Canadian gangster of Punjabi origin, identified as Satinder Singh, claimed responsibility for the murder. Brar, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi claimed that his “Punjab Module” (gang) carried out the shooting. Both Brar and Bishnoi have criminal cases against them in India. Subsequently in the FIR, Moose Wala’s father revealed that Sidhu was receiving death threats from gangsters for extortion purposes, a statement corroborated by singer Mika Singh.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann condemned the murder. Calling Moose Wala “a cultural icon of Punjab” he expressed shock and grief on his death and condoled the aggrieved family. Mann ordered an investigation into why Moose Wala’s security was reduced by the Punjab police two days prior. He also announced setting up of a judicial commission headed by a sitting judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to investigate the killing.
Did India’s Hindu Government killed Sidhu?
Sidhu Moose wala’s security was removed as per government orders before a day after he died.
Many people have accused the India’s regime of having an involvement in the death of Sidhu Moosewala as he always spoke against the barbaric atrocities of BJP/RSS Government on minorities.
BJP/RSS Government was not happy with the Sidhu Moosewala as he had huge fan following and he supported the Khalistan freedom movement and Khalistan freedom fighters. Hindu regimes of India always tried to prove Hindu’s dominant over minorities. In 1984 many innocent Sikhs were killed by Hindu regime of India as they demanded their rights.
Moose Wala’s reply to RSS/BJP Atrocities on farmers
Moose Wala released a song “Punjab: My Motherland” in December 2020, in support of the farmers’ protest against the barbaric Indian Government’s (BJP’s/RSS’s) 2020 Indian agriculture acts, the song featured clips of an orthodox militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and speeches made by supporter of Khalistan, Bharpur Singh Balbir in the late 1980s. In an interview Moose Wala said that Khalistan means a pure place, like it was under the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
SYL song removed by (BJP/RSS) Indian Government
SYL song of Sidhu Moose wala was released earlier this week after his death.
The song was banned in India by (BJP/RSS) Indian government after it crossed 27million views on You Tube. The music video was released by producer MXRCI on June 23. As of now, on clicking the link of the video in India, a message gets displayed which reads, “Video unavailable. This content is not available on this country domain due to a legal complaint from the government.”
The song’s title SYL stands for the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal which refers to the 40-year-old water dispute between Punjab and Haryana.
The song was written, sung, and composed by Sidhu and was recorded weeks before his tragic death. [It also mentions the 1984 anti-Sikh riots which were led by India’s Hindu government, thousands of innocent Sikhs were killed by Hindu government and Hindu terrorists. Video of song also shows the Sikh flag being hoisted at the Red Fort during the farmers’ agitation. In this song Sidhu also demands Chandigarh, Himachal and Haryana to be unified into Punjab which were illegally divided from Punjab by Hindu government of India. The song also mentions Khalistan freedom fighter Balwinder Singh Jattana, who had shot dead two occupant Hindu government officials in Chandigarh in 1990, bringing the SYL work to a halt.
