NATIONAL COMMAND AUTHORITY ORDERS FLIGHT TEST/TEST LAUNCH OF BABUR-1B MEDIUM RANGE CRUISE MISSILE

Prime Minister of Pakistan and Chairman of the NCA, ordered test flight of an enhanced range variant of the indigenously developed BABUR-1B medium range cruise missile, as advised by the Strategic Plans Division. The test was successfully carried out by the Strategic Plans Division, which launched Hatf-VII ‘BABUR-1B’ GLCM from test location carrying inert warhead. The test flight was aimed at re-validating certain design and technical parameters of the weapons system including an enhanced range and advanced navigation system.

All test parameters were met, Alhumdulillah.

The Hatf-VII Babur-1B is an improved version of the Babur ground launched cruise missile, indigenously made by NDC/NESCOM, capable of carrying a single conventional or strategic warhead at ranges of over 800 kilometres to hit both land and sea targets. The cruise missile features advanced aerodynamic and avionics systems, extremely high accuracy, a better engine, and an unusually low flight altitude using terrain contour matching, which makes detecting and shooting the missile down extremely difficult.

The test was witnessed by Director General of the Strategic Plans Division, Commander Pakistan Army Strategic Forces Command and Chairman NESCOM. DG SPD congratulated the scientists and engineers on “achieving excellence in the domain of cruise missile technology and expressed his full confidence that this test will further strengthen Pakistan’s Strategic Deterrence”.

President and Prime Minister of Pakistan, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on successful conduct of today’s missile test.
