Pakistan Naval Air Arm currently operates 2xATR-72 MPA (Maritime Patrol Aircraft). Pakistan Navy has received them recently by Rheinlander Air Service. They were upgraded by RAS to MPA standard which can conduct both ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) and search and rescue missions.

PN’s ATR-72s are equipped with Leonardo Seaspray 7300E AESA radar, Aerodata AG’s Aero-mission mission management system, Electronica electronic support measures (ESM) suite, Star SAFIRE III FLIR system, an electro-optical & infrared (EO/IR) turret and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capability through lightweight ASW torpedoes.

Apart from coastal and marine surveillance it is also able to do surveillance job on ground as well. Currently Pakistan Navy’s fixed wing fleet consists of 9xMPA aircraft including 07 P-3C Orions and 02 ATR-72 Sea Eagles.
